My 'Cricket Widow' Story

10 years & counting!!..

A Bit About Me

Hey!.. I’m Liv, and if you’re reading this, you probably know me as “The Cricket Widow” (or the girl who can’t finish a single sentence without laughing!).

I’m 28 years old, from the North of England, and have been a self-confessed Cricket Widow for 10 years now.

I’m very much a family girl and do absolutely everything with them.. even down to playing in the same hockey team for as long as I can remember! I live what should be a very simple life in a little village ‘up North’- I work a normal job and live at home- but alongside captaining a hockey team, being in a relationship with a cricketer, and being the most “yes” person there is.. it’s far from simple.

It’s complete and utter chaos!

I don’t really know what came first- the full-on life that meant I could date a cricketer you barely see anyway.. or whether living so much of summer solo turned me into the girl who crams something into every second.

It sounds fun.. and it is. But sometimes it can be quite hard and lonely being with a sportsman. And I am a sportswoman myself- but the sportsman I chose plays a game that is more than just a game. It’s a lifestyle.

And it completely takes over your summer.. CRICKET.

Two years ago, I reached out on Instagram to find just one other person who felt like I did. Not hating cricket- but sometimes finding it hard. Not really having anyone who understood how it felt to be in a relationship and still feel single a lot of the time. I just needed someone else to give me that sigh of

“ahh… it’s not just me.”

And that brings us to here.. and something I never envisaged-

The Cricket Widow Club.

A space for women in and around cricket who need that little giggle, that support, or just a check-in to feel seen, in a world where sometimes you feel like you’re doing it alone.

So that’s me- Liv, founder of The Cricket Widow Club..

and your new best mate from afar!
